Summer School 2026 — 4–9 January, Melbourne
60th Anniversary – Honouring Aikido Pioneers

The next milestone in our 60th Anniversary celebrations will be the 2026 Summer School in Melbourne (4–9 January).
This event is dedicated to honouring Australia’s early Aikido pioneers—those who trained directly under Sugano Sensei and helped establish dojos across the country.
This gathering will be both a tribute and a rare opportunity to learn directly from senior practitioners who have upheld Aikido’s tradition for decades.
At the heart of the program will be:

Special training sessions exploring enlightened moments (minor satori)

Recognition of key figures in the development of Australian Aikido

Together, these elements will offer a moment of reflection on the example, contributions, and continuing influence of our pioneers.
It is a chance to honour their resilience, dedication, and lasting impact on Aikido in Australia.

Summer School 2026 is the second stage of our three-part 60th Anniversary celebrations:

Winter School 2025 — recognition of younger, up-and-coming instructors

Summer School 2026 — honouring our senior teachers and pioneers

Winter School 2026 (Sydney) — a unique, limited 3-day event led by Ueshiba Mitsuteru Dojo-cho, celebrating Aiki Kai Australia’s connection to the global Aikikai community.

This once-in-a-generation series of events is a rare opportunity to honour the past, engage the present, and build the future of Aikido in Australia.

Book now to be part of something special.
